&lt;p&gt;Dorette, above (and below), claims that the artist asked her to pluck out her eyebrows so he could “draw them on, one by one, to make the line he most wanted.” Five years later, Dorette and Brockhurst married; but “disputes and unhappy differences” would lead to a legal separation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Dorette went back to using her birth name of Kathleen and told the media: “I don’t think I had a personality of my own, or if I had, I did not know what it was. I was simply material.”&lt;/p&gt;

Like other literary pilgrims, she visited their museum-preserved homes, but her photographs give the impression that the writers just stepped out and will return momentarily. The catalogue (which includes a selection of quotes from each writer) is available on her website and is highly recommended. Raab has lots of fantastic photos on her site—&lt;i&gt;Consumed&lt;/i&gt; (about fast food in the U.S.) is another favorite.&lt;/p&gt;
